Teacher of the Year 2019

Katie McGhee

Just recently, the 2019 teacher of the year award was presented to seventh grade ELA teacher Mrs. Moré. The Language Arts teacher has dreamed of being a teacher since she was five years old. Her grandmother always told her the story of how Mrs. Moré used to pretend to be a teacher, with her grandmother as her student.

When asked about her motivation to take on this career path, Mrs. Moré says, “I really like helping students learn new things.” To be more specific, she remembers having a teacher in elementary school who came to visit her when she had a serious surgery. Ever since, Mrs. Moré has wanted to have the ability to make people feel appreciated and happy like that.

The Language Arts teacher says that she started teaching elementary classes, and then moved to middle school, where she has taught 6th grade, and currently has two 7th grade classes and one 8th grade one.

Mrs. Moré says she never plans on changing her job, and it’s a good thing, too. All of her students enjoy her class every day. It’s no wonder that Mrs. Moré won this prestigious award!
