10.  Rolling In The Deep – Adele

 Adele is a singer/songwriter with popular tracks such as Hello and Set Fire To the Rain. In Rolling In the Deep, Adele exclaims that she and her partner “could have had it all / rolling in the deep,” The wonderful backing vocals, along with the powerful lyrics and music, caused us to give Rolling In the Deep some decent ratings.

9. Despacito – Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee feat. Justin Bieber

 This 2018 hit song with more than half of it in Spanish, was loved so much that it was streamed by over 4.5 billion people in its first six months.  Despacito helped creators/writers Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee rise to fame as Latin-American superstars, with obvious help from Justin Bieber being wildly popular in America. Its music video now has over 6.6 billion views.

8.  Somebody That I Used to Know – Gotye feat. Kimbra

 Gotye is an Australian multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter with hits such as Hearts a Mess and Easy Way OutSomebody That I Used To Know gave him his rise to fame and is a great song. With catchy music and lyrics, this song absolutely deserves a high rating.

7. Old Town Road – Lil Nas X feat. Billy Ray Cyrus

  This amazing song broke the record for the longest consecutive run at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. On Youtube, just the official music video (not counting all the other versions with lyrics, fake videos, and hour loops) has been viewed over 4.2 million times!  Jack: 9/10          Julie: 9/10

 

6. We Found Love – Rihanna feat. Calvin Harris

Rihanna, a 9-time Grammy winner, and hitmaker with songs such as Diamonds and Umbrella expresses in We Found Love that she and her partner have “found love in a hopeless place.” This song is certainly not hopeless as it received the International Dance Music Award for Best R&B/Urban Dance Track and Best Commercial/Pop Dance Track.

5. Girls Like You – Maroon 5 feat. Cardi B

Maroon 5 is an American pop rock band consisting of, strangely, seven members. With hit songs such as Payphone, Moves Like Jagger, and the most recent hit song, Memories, Maroon 5 has been solidified as a band with popularity among the lines of Panic! At the Disco and My Chemical Romance. Girls Like You shows the more pleasant side of love. The protagonist of the song sings about spending 24 hours with his partner, then needing more hours with her. Later, he sings about girls like his partner running around with guys like himself. Additional verses by Cardi B and an outstanding performance by the lead singer of Maroon 5, Adam Levine, makes this song a hit forever. That’s probably why it’s on this list.

4. Closer – The Chainsmokers feat. Halsey

The Chainsmokers are an American electronic duo made up of Alexander Pall (Alex) and Andrew Taggart (Drew). With popular songs such as Something Just Like This, Paris, and Who Do You Love, the Chainsmokers and Halsey’s song Closer is about two exes getting together again in an upbeat, catchy song that everybody can dance to.

3.Shape of You – Ed Sheeran

Ed Sheeran is a world-renowned English singer/songwriter with hits such as Perfect, I Don’t Care, and Beautiful People. Shape of You is about relationships and attraction to your partner. Powerful lyrics and voice by Sheeran makes us give this song a good rating.

2. Party Rock Anthem – LMFAO feat. Lauren Bennett & Goonrock

LMFAO is an American electronic dance music duo consisting of uncle Redfoo and nephew SkyBlu. With hits such as Sexy and I Know It and Sorry For Party Rocking, they are however easily recognized for their song Party Rock Anthem, which is about dancing, and well, shuffling. An upbeat rhythm and catchy lyrics makes us give this song a high ratings.

  Mark Ronson is a British–American musician, DJ, songwriter, and record producer. Bruno Mars is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, multi-instrumentalist, and dancer. They collaborated to make a weird, spunky song that managed to snag first place in the Decade-end charts, and also managed to stand 14 weeks at the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100. This song is about being attractive, rich, talented and having an exciting social life. This song absolutely deserves some high ratings.
