What is Overcooked? Overcooked is a multiplayer game that works on your teamwork, or skills if played in single player. There is a campaign in the game where your goal is to become a better chef, due to you not being able to defeat the meatball monster at the beginning of the game. You travel back in time to try again, but train before you fight him. You travel through levels  that each have their own challenges to help you become a better chef. If you play with another person you work on your communication with the player to help you get a better score. Your score is important due to you needing stars to go to a new level. You get stars by doing better in the level, or get more orders out of the kitchen. The end goal is to get revenge on the meatball monster.

How does this game help cooperation? This game is mainly around cooperation if being played in co-op. You need teamwork to make sure that your orders are done and you can multitask and see what the other player needs in order to make the order. Gameplay can be found on youtube, but the one I recommend is people who know each other. An example of this is the youtuber Stumpt. I have never watched this person, except it is a good example showing why it is important to have communication. If you watch for long enough you can realize that most of the time you are just screaming. The reason of this is due to it being a very chaotic game. Even when I play it with my sister, all I am doing is screaming for the tomatoes. This game can tear people apart, but at the same time it can make it so your teamwork with the other player becomes the best it can be.

Multitasking- This game teaches you to learn how to multitask. Multitasking is very important as a kid because of school work and chores. You got to learn how to do two things at a time. This is very important in the game of overcooked as well. As you watch Youtuber Stumpt’s gameplay you can see that they are starting a new order before even the first one is ready. If you don’t do this in the game you will never be able to get three stars on the level. Another way this game has multitasking is the ability to see what is needed to do and what is needed next. An example of this is if you are making soup. The order up top says you need tomatoes and mushrooms for another. You first have to make the tomatoes cut, then put them in the pot, then get some mushrooms and cut those, then get your tomato soup because it is probably done, serve, then go back to the mushroom and put that in, and finally after all that, you gave another order. This game shows how you need to do six things at a time and make sure you have a plan ahead to know what to do.

Planning- Like said before, planning ahead is very important in this game. If you play co-op you need to know what your teammate is doing and what you should do to help them. Another way to show planning is in future levels. Some levels need planning before you even start to play. The reason for this is one of the levels only makes it for a 1 block radius around the whole, kitchen. You need to plan ahead to make sure that you and your partner(s) know what you are doing and make sure that you don’t run into each other, because that only slows you down.

Conclusion- To wrap up this game, I would like to say it helps out some key parts for a kid growing up. It taps into your planning, communication, and even multitasking. Overall I love this game and it is was very useful for me to do all of these things listed. Another that wasn’t even on this for me was connecting with my sister. I work together with her well, and this game made it so we worked even better as a team. Overall I give this game a 10/10 on the ratings and I want to make sure that most kids get Overcooked or Overcooked 2 that is on almost all platforms. I hope this helped you and sure that you get this game!
