March Madness is one of the biggest basketball events of the year and does not involve a single NBA team. For this competition, 68 of the best college basketball teams compete in a tournament for not only the championship trophy, but also being considered champions. This years top team was the Virginia Cavaliers beating the Texas Tech Red Raiders by eight points in overtime. After being the number one seed last year and losing to sixteen seed UMBC in the first round, this was almost Virginia’s redemption. The Virginia shooting guard, De’Andre Hunter finished it out with a total of twenty seven points, nine rebounds, and one assist as the highest scorer in the game. Not only that but Virginia was the first team to win the championship with the best scoring defense since the 1959 championship. So as the tournament fun ends and the bracket money is distributed, fans lie in wait for next year when the drama begins again.
